Local tips
- 1Book the Erdek–Marmara Island car ferry as early as schedules open; July Friday/Saturday sailings can sell out.
- 2Leave Bursa early on Day 1 to clear O-5 and Balıkesir approaches before summer weekend traffic builds.
- 3At Erdek port, arrive at least 45 minutes before sailing with an SUV; car-deck loading queues are slow in peak season.
- 4Visit Kyzikos and Saraylar in the morning; both are bright, stony and much hotter after midday.
- 5For Karacabey Longoz, the softer photo light is after 17:00, but stay on marked paths to protect wetlands.
Good to know
- 1Ferry times between Erdek and Marmara Island can change because of wind, maintenance or summer demand; recheck the day before.
- 2O-5 motorway sections use HGS tolling; make sure the tag balance is sufficient before leaving Bursa.
- 3July temperatures around Erdek and Bandırma often exceed 30°C, and Kyzikos has little shade.
- 4Marmara Island village streets and harbor parking can be narrow for an SUV; avoid squeezing into old lanes.
- 5Karacabey Longoz access and trail conditions vary with wetland water levels; some side paths may be muddy or closed.
